Recently I bought an electric pushbike because last September I had an injury to my hip (both operated on when I was 17 and I had to learn how to walk again back then) and shoulder/ribs and became unfit over time. So much for playing tennis and face-planting on the court. Mind you it looked special! So this is why and how the story goes……
During the last ten months, I also moved house and found myself continuously exacerbating my body stresses. Combine this with workload, developing products using computers, posture issues, counteracting the problem by doing healings and Bowen Therapy treatments on myself or received from my husband Kim, and I was feeling like I was on a rollercoaster. You see I suffer from Pyrrole Disorder and hypermobility as life long conditions. I have been monitoring, self-creating and healing, managing etc these conditions and I learn as I go what works or does not work for me. I specialise in the counselling and healing of others but in all things of spirit we all have our personal challenges which grow us in mind, spirit and body.
I learned to adjust my vitamins to manage Pyrrole Disorder which is a metabolic disorder where you cannot metabolise Vitamin B6, Zinc, Magnesium and Omega 6 plus Biotin from your food. This means you end up suffering from depletion symptoms and oxidative stress, anxiety or fatigues more easily than would be considered normal in the general population. It sucks!!!! but it is manageable, especially with a sense of humour and determination. Both of which I have in spades. I also have a huge faith in God and the beings of light to guide and help me with information and healing on this life journey.
One of these inspirations led me to buy an electric pushbike so I could manage my fitness and tendency to overweight, plus recoup my strength because it meant I could use the battery to assist me with hills until I got fit enough to build up my strength in my leg muscles and also in my shoulders. You may forget that to go up a hill on the bike you naturally tend to pull on the handlebars to gain postural advantage for your leg stance.
Let us flash forward to this day where I am writing my newsletter whilst watching Dancing with the Stars. I had a really good day today.
I slept in and rested, shared time with family and attended a Yoga chanting session with friends this afternoon. This led me to choose to pushbike to and from my yoga group, via the rain-forest. Please note: I have now clocked up 160 kilometers on my pushbike in the last few months and I feel so much better. My hip injury is healed….my shoulder is a bit sorer actually due to bumping over curbs on the bike lol but is still healing generally and my fitness and self-confidence in my body has soured.
I know the pathways around my home and cruise the streets like I used to as a kid. I feel like life has taken on a new and adventurous opportunity. I pushbike between clients. I pushbike just because. I pushbike with my husband and son. I pushbike because I can. I just love it.
I love it so much that today I decided to pushbike back from the yoga session along my well known, dark forest pathways, on instinct and it was evening and pouring with rain. lol I only had two kilometers to travel but it was exhilarating and adventurous and fun. I bounced into the house wringing wet and laughing, even after enjoying my meditation and yoga chanting, I was able to have even more fun!
I rarely use the battery assisted power on the pushbike now, only on the steeper hills as my legs have become so much stronger and I have found a newly acquired confidence in my body. For a mind oriented healer who had before this let the fitness slide, I realise the importance of cultivating good health practice and looking after your body, no matter how esoteric life appears, and the pre-occupation with this space which is so easy to do.
My advice is to find your passion and to allow yourself to follow it with lots of nurturing for your spirit, body and mind.
Take care of yourself.
Till next week, love and light
