When the wind is blowing from the inside it is called flatulence!  That is the polite term.
Gas builds up in the intestines and bowel and if your gas can’t go up and out as a burp it will travel past that half way mark and come down as flatulence.
How many times don’t we have issues around “breaking wind, farting, letting one go!”

Seriously so many funny antics and embarrassing moments happen around flatulence, which is a normal part of digestion.   When you have fibres which ferment or sugars hitting an inflamed area of the bowel,  dairy intolerance and many other healthy and unhealthy conditions, the production of extra gas in the digestive system will result.

Gas can come from how your body tackles the last baked bean consumption or tacos,  (those older ones of us might remember the movie “Blazing Saddles” from the 1970s dedicated to the topic in a comedic way.
Gas comes when inflamation is present and the sugars in food make it ferment like ginger beer does when you add sugar to it.  Large bubbles of wind swell and this can be painful, leading to cramps and extreme wind pains.

Farting is healthy actually.  The average healthy human breaks wind from the anus approximately 14 times a day!
Sometimes you can’t help it and it can be a literal pain in the ass of social occasions, especially as women tend to try to hide this need to pass wind and will hold it in till they have stomach pains.  Then they will find a secret place to allow it to pass, hoping not to be heard or smelt.   Oh dear!

Most men make a competition of it in social situations, cracking up laughing when someone does it and seeing if they can beat them.  Just like burping.  Oh dear polite company excluded of course.  I am not sure if I am speaking only of the Australian bbq scene lol but I am sure that is a worldwide trend.

In some countries it is considered polite to burp as a copliment for good food.   Flatulence less so.

In the Oknolwgloonkwa culture of Northeastern Chad, a polite male guest is expected to fart freely at dinner.
If one does not produce several healthy, frangrant farts at the table the host worries that you are not having a good enough time.

So the next time you are worried about having a build of wind, consider migration lol.

love and light
